Favorite food blogs

Over at A Veggie Venture can be found scores of great vegetarian ideas. I’m not a veggie, as is known by regular readers, but the attitude I have is that one should trust the experts. Veggies know more about this stuff than anyone, right? Then if I add some great meat ideas — perfect!

Anyway, she’s got a great article on favorite food blogs:

Mine didn’t turn out, but you might try…

I was feeling a bit adventurous and went to look around. I found a blog called www.talimpu.com, which specializes in South Indian food, which I love. A recent recipe there is a recipe for Green Papaya with Mustard Powder and gave it a try. I’m not sure what I did wrong, but it didn’t quite work for me. Anyway, here’s a picture from that site:

Vegetarian wings!

www.iheartmargarine.com was mentioned here a little while ago. Today they’ve got a new superbowl recipe up that will be fun to try: vegetarian wings! Here’s the recipe:

    “Spicy Seitan Buffalo “Wings” are a vegetarian and vegan substitute for tradtional pub buffalo wings. Seitan doesn’t come with wings any more than buffaloes do, but these meatless buffalo wings are cooked up with hot sauce and margarine for the same spicy flavor.

    Ingredients:
    1 pound seitan, sliced into strips
    2 tsp garlic powder
    1 tsp onion powder
    olive oil for frying
    1/3 cup margarine, melted
    1/2 cup hot sauce
    Preparation:Coat the seitan with garlic powder and onion powder then lightly fry in olive oil over medium high heat for 5 to 7 minutes, or until done.
    In a medium sized bowl, mix together the melted margarine and hot sauce. Place the seitan in the bowl and stir to coat well.

    Serve with ranch dressing if desired.”
